The highly sophisticated and comprehensive martial art from the Philippines is weapon based, but ultimately an empty hand system. Developed for "mass attack" as well as single opponent confrontations, the training heightens students awareness of their surroundings and teaches them to use their environment as tools of combat. Everyday objects such as umbrellas, books, bandanas, etc. become an effective means of self defense in the hands of a properly trained individual. Drills and techniques taught in a non-restrictive, fluid manner allow the individual to enhance their natural attributes. Weapon training includes, single stick, double stick, stick and knife, double and single dagger, staff. A substantial empty hand element is present including Panantukan (Filipino boxing) and Hubud Lubud (sensitivity drills similar to Wing Chun's (Chi Sao) along with Dumog (Grappling) and Kunsi (Locking). All in all a very comprehensive martial art. Mike certified by Guro Dan Inosanto to teach Filipino martial arts.
