Erik Paulson & Mike Gregory Shootwrestling is a popular martial art and sport in Japan, founded by Sousai Satoru Sayama. Shootwrestling, also called "Shooting" or "Shooto", is a unique blend of Russian Sombo, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Catch-As-Catch-Can Wrestling and Muay Thai Boxing. A truly combative sport martial art, Shootwrestling utilises long range kicking, punching, kneeing, evasion and footwork. Practitioners are allowed to throw, tackle, take-down or sweep the opponent and continue into ground fighting and engage in submission wrestling and locking. Training in Shootwrestling will develop attributes such as balance, speed, agility, co-ordination, endurance and sensitivity. Mike is a member of USA Shooto and is an authorised representative in Submission Wrestling under World Light Heavyweight Shooto Champion, Sensei Erik Paulson. Mike is also the 1999 Lightweight British Amateur Shootwrestling Champion and is also blue belt under former world Shooto champion and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blue belt Yuki Nakai of the Paraestra gym in Tokyo.
